The Rise of Virgin Media Business
Virgin Media Business enjoyed a further increase in the number of broadband customers between July and September 2016.
Virgin Media’s base grew to 4,867,900 customers in the third quarter of the year – an increase of 59,900.
This helped its overall number of customer additions grow by 92,000, which is its best Q3 result in seven years.
Virgin Media also confirmed that it is making good progress with its on-going Project Lightning initiative which will increase the availability of Virgin Lines across the UK.
“During Q3, we passed 95,000 new premises with our superior fibre-rich network, taking the YTD Project Lightning build to 250,000 premises,” the firm said.
“We expect to build between 450,000 and 500,000 premises during 2016 across the UK and Ireland, as our build partners continue to scale up to meet higher quarterly build volumes.”
Virgin Media went on to state that demand for its ultrafast speeds and enhanced video services remains strong.
Indeed, it noted that more than half of its broadband base now enjoys speeds of at least 100Mbps, while subscriptions to its next-generation TV platforms in the UK and Ireland account for 81 per cent of its enhanced video base.
This comes shortly after Virgin Media announced it has struck a deal with Bloor Homes to ensure ultrafast broadband will be available to occupants of more than 2,000 newly-built properties across the UK.
Ultrafast connections will be on offer at eight urban and rural sites in Manchester, Exeter, Coventry, Leicestershire, Nottingham and Malmesbury.
